Biography

Donna was born on Guam, an island territory of the USA in the South Pacific, in 1962. She spent most of her youth living in England and in different areas within the United States. From Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, she received a BA in graphic design and worked for several years in a studio as a designer.

In 1989 she and her husband moved to Indonesia where they raised a family and worked for eighteen years. Donna worked in the grass-roots organization that her husband helped start and had many unusual adventures living on the island of Java. She learned the art of batik and taught herself how to paint.

She finished her MFA at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts two years after returning to the USA. The landscape of Southeast Asia with its many islands, volcanoes, rice fields and beaches has had a long and abiding affect on her artwork as well as Indonesia’s rich and beautiful culture.
